The A to Z on Monday crew made it all the way to "Z" last week. This week we're following our leader, Jen, and heading backwards to see if we can make it to "A" again.

The Zucchini Curse
Zeke and Zelda grew zucchini on their farm
hoping to get rich quick.
They had visions of dollars dancing in their heads
for each zucchini they could pick.
They planned to bake bread from their zucchini
and make casseroles and pickles too.
They wanted to make zucchini cake, zucchini cookies,
zucchini stir fry, and even zucchini stew.
Business was good. People liked their crop.
Zeke and Zelda were successful for a while.
Then something went wrong, business came to a stop,
and their zucchini seemed suddenly out of style.
Folks learned how to grow their OWN zucchini.
EVERYONE had some planted in their garden plot.
Zeke and Zelda lost their home and their farm.
There were so many zucchinis, they were left to rot.
Now when a neighbor comes offering zucchini,
folks yell, "We don't want any. Go away!"
Old Zeke and Zelda have been gone for years,
but the curse of the zucchini is here to stay.

What a timely post!
Zat zany zucchini !
It's true; here in the Midwest they grow it with a vengence. You never leave your car unlocked when you attend church; someone will 'bless' you with some while you aren't looking. I prefer yellow squash anyway. If zucchini was good, it wouldn't be so plentiful. How about leaving some of those beautiful delicious tomatoes!
So very cute Daisy! I loved it.
Frank--HAHAHAHAHA! :D What a great link! Thank you for sharing that one. I'll have to mark that on my calendar. I hope you are having a good week. :-)
Debbie, I haven't grown any zucchini for quite a while, but I seem to get some given to me every year anyway. HA! I can remember when we did grow it that we would take it to church and work and around to the neighbors. We'd do anything to get rid of the stuff. You can do a lot with it, but a little goes a long way too. HA!
Hi Kathy! Hi Mildred! Would you like some zucchini? ;) HA HA HA!
Daisy, you are full of cute original poetry!! Cute!
I guess that's better than being full of zucchini? ha ha!
Thank you, Dorothy! Enjoy your day! :D
Oh yeah, once it starts it is scary!!! I usually turn and run the other way when I see someone coming at me with one. :D
Great Z Daisy--I know you have it in you to make it back to A. :)
Hi Jen! I don't know. We will see. It was almost Tuesday before I got the Monday post up this week. HA! :D
Nice one - there is always that time of year when there is more zucchini to go around than people to receive it. So many nice intentioned people with Zukes in abundant (over)supply.
Ben, the first zucchini that come on the vine, people are happy to see, but by the end of the season they lose their charm. HA! It seems the vines always produce so many too! No wonder people have thought up so many different recipes for them. They have to think of some way to try and use them up.
Just ate zucchini bread yesterday! ( left behind at the family reunion by a great aunt. ) The only way I like it is as zucchini bread and maybe tempura. Mom had to fight to get me to eat my cooked zucchini as a kid. I'd sit at the table for hours with that one, slimy, green circle of horror on my plate. Okay, it wasn't that bad.
Autumn, I love the bread, but there are other ways of fixing zucchini that I am less crazy about. HA! :D
I need some zucchini! :)
Chris--HA! I wouldn't say that too loudly if I were you. Anybody hears you say that, and you will be inundated with zucchini from every direction! :D
